The second leg of today’s ‘double’ was a Hellenic League Premier Division game between Slimbridge and Almondsbury Town (not to be confused with the opposition at Cadbury Heath earlier).Almondsbury got the game underway attacking the south end of the ground towards the entrance. Slimbridge took the lead in the 19th minute. Robbie Colwell got to the right-bye line and pulled the ball back to the far post where Steve Badham ran in to hammer the ball home.
The home side extended their lead in the 38th minute. Badham turned provider as he slipped the ball into the path of Joe Tustain who slotted it past the advancing goalkeeper into the net from 15 yards out.
Slimbridge goalkeeper Adam Thomas was unable to continue after he was hurt diving at the feet of an Almondsbury attacked. Tustain took over in goal.The visitors halved the deficit in the 84th minute. Danny Copeland crossed from the right into the area and Badham put the ball in his own net attempting a clearance.
However, Slimbridge wrapped up the win as they restored their two-goal advantage in 89th minute. After his initial shot was blocked by defender Russ Knight, Andy Varnham scored from the rebound with a shot via the underside of the bar.
