After dropping the family off at Hillingdon tube station for their day in Central London, I made my way round the M25 to the village of Laleham, a mile or so south-east of Staines. This was the first leg of a Bank Holiday ‘double’ and, coincidently, one of the few remaining home league games for the Staines Lammas first team at the Laleham Recreation Ground before a groundshare at Ashford Town (Middlesex) FC commences next season.

Going into the game in second position, one point behind leaders Worcester Park, Lammas found the opponents CB Hounslow United, uneven pitch and wind all difficult to cope with, particularly during a scrappy first half. They gained a single goal advantage before half-time and upped their performance after the break to gain with a 4-1 victory.
